AI does not make companies sound the same by itself. Companies sound the same when they outsource the thinking along with the typing.
There is plenty of productive work AI can do around research, organization, variation, editing, repurposing, and production. The challenge for a company is turning those capabilities into a repeatable workflow without letting the workflow invent what the organization believes.
Start with proprietary context
The internet is full of generic advice. Your company has things the open internet does not: customer conversations, operating lessons, failed experiments, internal expertise, original data, stories, interviews, and decisions made under real constraints.
That material should be upstream of the generation. If the input is generic, the team should not be surprised when the output is too.
Separate generation from approval
AI can generate headlines, structures, summaries, creative variations, and first drafts. Give a named person responsibility for deciding what survives.
That person is not merely proofreading. They are checking whether the work is accurate, useful, recognizable, and consistent with what the company is willing to stand behind.
Write standards deeper than tone
“Bold but approachable” is not much of an editorial system. Useful standards answer harder questions:
- What does the company actually believe?
- What evidence is required before making a claim?
- Which clichés and shortcuts should disappear from the work?
- How should uncertainty be handled?
- What claims would the company refuse to make?
- What should a reader consistently get from spending time with us?
Build checkpoints around high-risk work
Not every AI-assisted task needs the same review. A transcript cleanup is different from a health claim. A social variation is different from a financial forecast. A meeting summary is different from a public statement carrying the company’s reputation.
Match the human review to the consequence of being wrong.
Scale proven ideas across formats
Once the point of view exists, AI becomes especially useful. An interview can become a research summary, article outline, video notes, social drafts, internal FAQ, or sales enablement without asking the system to manufacture a new corporate personality every time.
That is leverage: more useful expression from the same real source material.
Keep accountability human
Someone should own the published claim. Someone should know where the source came from. Someone should decide whether the argument represents the company.
“The AI wrote it” is neither an editorial standard nor a useful defense.
